Echinacea is a perennial plant, a genus from the Aster family, or Compositae. The Latin name of the genus is derived from the Greek word - prickly. The most studied and well-known species - Echinacea purpurea (or Rudbeckia purpurea), is used in folk medicine, pharmacology and decorative gardening. The stems are straight, 90-100 cm high. Large reed flowers, 10-12 cm in diameter, purple-pink. They are grown by sowing seeds for seedlings in greenhouses or in open ground, transplanted to a permanent place in early autumn. It grows in one place for 5-6 years. It blooms in the second year from July to September. The plant looks spectacular in a group among the lawn and in bouquets. Used in medicine as an immunostimulant.
